TESTIMONIALS

Graciela’s knowledge of yoga and restorative yoga in particular is thorough, intuitive and compassionate. She conveyed the essence as well as the particulars beautifully during our training. Her choice of assignments, the materials provided, and the composition of the three days’ training gave me a solid foundation for my own restorative practice, and the inspiration to share it with other Yogis in the future.

-A. Poston, September 2017

If we have good fortune, we meet teachers who embody their craft. If we are blessed we know one or two who impart through their passions and their actions, their skills. Graciela passes on a legacy of listening deeply to  self, other, and the connection which is the Self. Layer by layer, breath by breath Gracie embraces each student’s capacity to Restore Self. A five star course.

-Kirt, J. Baab, LMSW, ERYT-200, March 2018

Gracie’s restorative yoga: deep listening training was one of the highlights of my year. It felt like a yoga retreat, was my favorite workshop/training I’ve ever attended, and by the culmination I felt more connected to everyone there and to myself. What a gift!

DIY Music Touring Van Life Workshop/Live Music - Acoustic Performance by When Particles Collide

Saturday November 10th - DIY Touring Workshop at 5pm - Acoustic Show at 6:30pm

This workshop/performance is for anyone who is interested in the possibility of DIY (Do It Yourself) Touring. Although we hope that many high school aged folks will attend, the information and activities are for people of all ages.
During the workshop we will explore the differences between Fame and Family, the ephemeral promise of the ultimate American Dream: for everyone to know who you are and love you/your art and what you can actually experience as a traveling artist: a concrete connection with people in a real space and in real time that often nurtures the soul in unexpected ways. In other words, DIY Touring can help artists decrease their FOMO and increase their sense of purpose and connection to the world.
We will also talk about the actual nuts and bolts of booking and playing a show out of town. Where do you start? What do you need? How should you behave at the show? By the end of the workshop we hope that participants will have a sense of what DIY Touring can be both emotionally and career-wise and also know how to start booking and playing their first out of town gigs. - This is a FREE EVENT - Donations appreciated to support our Artists.

There will be a 40/50 minute acoustic performance to follow the workshop by When Particles Collide

More info on the Workshop presenter:
Sasha G. Alcott grew up in Bangor Maine, studied Chemistry at Cornell University, and fell in love with rock ‘n roll during the riot grrrl movement of the early/mid 90’s. Sasha taught high school chemistry and played in bands from 1995-2016. In the summer of 2016 she and her husband Chris Viner, bought a van, left their jobs and have been DIY Touring the US and Canada under the name When Particles Collide ever since. They rack up over 200 shows per year and are continuously humbled by the grace and generosity of people they meet along the way.

Full Moon Solo Sacred Sexuality Workshop - Sex Magic for WOMXN with Rae Halder

Solo Sex Magic for Womxn, Sunday April 29th, 4pm-7pm, $30 Suggested Donation (pay what you can)

CALLING ALL WITCHY WOMXN RECLAIMING THEIR SACRED POWER

Our sexual energy is one of the most powerful sources of manifestation available to humans. Yet it's one that's thoroughly under utilized, having deep imbedded shame around it (not to mention the fear of witches, i.e. women who heal through utilizing their energy). In this practice of sex magic you’re using your sexual energy -- the energy typically utilized for creating a baby -- to manifest your desires. You’re using your sexual energy as fuel. It’s basically one of the most powerful sources of manifestation available to humans. Yet one that is thoroughly under utilized, and has deep embedded shame around it.

A lot of us have shame around our desires. Fear around getting what we really want. So this workshop also works toward uncovering our shadows when it comes to manifestation and magic.

The following components will be covered:

- how to create a solid intention that works for sex magic

- how to harness your sexual energy to use it for manifesting your desires

- how to do shadowwork to understand what might be blocking you from your manifestations

- how to recognize that this work is sacred and holy work, not just work of the "gluttonous or greedy"

- how to channel your sexual energy through powerful embodied practices

West African Drum Lessons with Chris Helvey

Saturday April 28th 3-5pm, $25 sliding scale

We will start at the beginning and learn two traditional rhythms. These drum classes are somewhat self-leveling in terms of student experience level. Beginners will get to learn the basics and more experienced players will learn the nuances of the rhythm. A few djembes will be available for rent.  First come first server. What we will learn:

  • Tradition West African Beats
  • Playing tips
  • Woman friendly (No egos here)
  • Fun and supportive
  • Beginners welcome
  • Recorded for practicing

Chris has been a drummer since the age of eight. Around twenty years ago, he was intrigued by the Djembe as an instrument and upon discovering the music it supported, came an "Aha!" about rhythm. What followed became a deep learning experience of West African rhythm, along with following the influences it has had on western music. He has traveled to Guinea, West Africa to learn from the source, and has studied with many masters both African and American. His teachers have been Mamady Keita (Conakry,) Famadou Konate' (Conakry,) Fadouba Oulare (Faranah,) Ryan Edwards (Boston,) Michael Taylor (Chicago,) Michael Markus (New York,) and Bruce Langhorn (Los Angeles,) among others.

Chris also plays guitar, congas, and anything that makes a sound. African music runs in his blood even while playing slack-key guitar. He often says that the influence of African music in his his own life and music style is like the egg in a cake. You can't separate them anymore.
