Bio: Wildcat was born in the Oklahoma Seminole Nation and moved around a lot growing up, living in a number of different cultures in this country and traveling abroad. Music (especially singing and drumming), dance, and the psychedelic sacrament medicines are important parts of his spiritual relationship with reality, as are meditation, asana, and time in nature. His family includes 3 dog women and his romantic partner, all of whom spend as much time playing outdoors as possible. He studied mathematics and mechanical engineering in school then left it all behind to do regenerative ecology work, focusing on the restoration of biodiversity above and within the ground, with an emphasis on fungi. He’s been DJing for 20 years, exploring the world of musical styles in the process.

Music: Wildcat’s musical focus is on the beautiful, the psychedelic, the emotionally stirring, the deeply funky, the healthy sexy, and on soundscapes that paint vivid pictures within him. He loves organic indigenous musical traditions from around the world, African and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, modern combinations of these old traditions, and the new spaces where modern electronica production styles interface with them. His favorite dance tracks have the rooted, Earthy, indigenous elements grounding them, the core-centered strong sexuality, the chest-centered urban style cool funk sensibility, and the powerful psychedelic spiritual science informing his spirit as he moves with them. In his life in general and as a musician, Wildcat focuses on bringing good medicine.

Smiley Coyote Bio:

When not behind the decks providing sultry soundscapes, Smiley Coyote can be found behind a camera lens or on a pottery wheel. Starting out as a public radio DJ in 2007 in Durango Colorado, he orchestrated a sunrise show awakening the region with mellow beats. Since then, he has toured with the Salt Fire Circus as their DJ and shared the stage with EDM names such as Tipper, Heyoka (Andreilien), Bluetech, Kalya Scintilla, JPOD and Birds of Paradise to name a few. Preferring the Ecstatic Dance scene to share his array of sounds, he regularly plays all around Northern California, Colorado and New Mexico. As part of our Virtual Earth Day Weekend Event to raise awareness for our fundraiser. Movement Lab will be hosting a virtual Dance.

Remember all of the great dances at High Frequency Loft?! Well, it's time to support the space we love, and to celebrate it through dance.

Every Thursday night during the pandemic I have hosted dance online.

On Earth Day, Thursday April 22nd we will dance for High Frequency Loft. Please join us online for a half hour somatic movement/improvisation class followed by one hour of freeform dance.

Bio:

DJ Uplifter, Previous Taos Resident & Taos High School Graduate is bringing his music to share with us from Hawaii. With his roots based in New Orleans and having spend many years in the Northern NM/Southern CO regions, dj Uplifter has taken a deep respect for music as an art form and translated it into his unique style of djing. With his extensive knowledge of rhythms and beats, he blends the traditional Jamaican sound system style with an American house-music mixing approach, while adding the infectiousness of the modern Bass sounds of today along with Latin and Hip-Hop sounds. This technique has provided his listeners/dancers with a unique style that is extremely infectious and body-moving. His Downtempo & Dub music knowledge is multifaceted, with attention to detail and layering of various obscure beats and sounds. His mixes induce out-of-body experiences and goal attaining energy.

His Edance performances set a magical tone that have been repeatedly requested in his current home, the Puna district of Big Island. As a resident dj of the Kalani Ecstatic dance community, dj Uplifter has honed his craft whilst keeping in the 5 Rhythms tradition.  Uplifting and body-moving sets are his specialty. 

With his 26+ years of experience, Uplifter has relocated to Big Island, Hawaii where he continues to expand his knowledge of music and provide dancers with an extensive array of beats to groove get on down!
As a person that appreciates attention to detail and intense professionalism, he strives for perfection in all arenas and works to provide his audience with an experience that is second to none.
