Potential: A Course on Self-Mastery - Week 2

Saturday, July 2 | 1 pm - 3 pm ~ Matt the Poet

Hi! I'm Matt The Poet! I am an Artist and intuitive channel, and I'm finally stepping into the role of teacher with this new four-week course that I'm offering as an introduction to the philosophy that I've been developing my whole life: Self-Mastery.

The Art of Self-Mastery is a subtle one. It requires that we dive deep within our inner world to find the answers to the problems we face in discovering our truest expression in the world. We all desire to be the most authentic version of ourselves, although society at large has made that quite difficult, demanding that we conform to its ways and shed our authentic nature in the process. The Art of Self-Mastery is about reconnecting and remembering our whole and integral self, with all of its multiple facets and archetypes coming together as one.

This four-week course is designed to provide all the fundamental tools to begin the process of alchemizing our True Selves. I will be teaching each class in person at the High Frequency Lofts and on Zoom. While I feel each of the classes is incredibly important, each class is an independent teaching of its own, so come to one, or come to all. There's no reason to miss out on this amazing opportunity to learn the philosophy, tools, and techniques for reaching your highest potential. Reach out to me to get more information about online-zoom access at: playgroundofpotential@gmail.com

Don't allow money to be an influencing factor in your decision on whether to take these classes or not!!! All of these classes are offered as gifts. Me sharing my individual gift with the world. Thus, a gift exchange is expected. It could be money, services, or whatever form of energy that is most abundant for you! The suggested gift exchange is listed at the bottom, but don't let the numbers intimidate you from coming to this transformational workshop. Give what you can and that is enough!!!

Week 2 - Saturday, July 2nd: Health and The Self
In this class, I will share what I have learned about how to heal and maintain the first two of the four layers of personal health: Physical and Emotional Health.

Week 3 - Saturday, July 9th: Health and The Self
In this class, I will share what I have learned about how to heal and maintain the second two of the four layers of personal health: Mental and Spiritual Health.

Week 4 - Saturday, July 16th: Avenues to The Unconscious Self
This class will focus on developing the tools and techniques that one can use to access the inner dimensions of Self that reside in our unconscious mind.

Suggested Gift: $144 for all 4 classes
$44 for an individual class

Cost: $10 for the event

The Magpie bird is considered a link to the other worldly, primal realm of spirits, senses, and symbolism. This Magpie, the band, does something very similar. Their lyrical encoding speaks of grander ways hidden in simplicity which sedates us into a connectedness and assurance to the ear.

Magpie has been touring all over the United States with its dynamic blend of folk rock since 2010. Whether it’s the soulful intimate acoustic performances of lead man Zach Dunn, or the full-on electrified ensemble; Magpie, the man or the band, is one of those rare musical forces that wants to be experienced.

Capoeira: African-Brazilian Martial Arts Dance Workshop

Saturday, February 12 | 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm~Deollo Johnson and Fred Simpson
Cost: $20 for the event

Capoeira is an African-Brazilian martial arts dance. Tracing its roots to parts of West Africa, the fighting system (or systems) of these Africans became disguised as a dance after their forced migration to Brazil with the European slave trade. Capoeira integrates strikes, sweeps, acrobatics, dance, music, and theatrics into a seamless flow, a “conversation of bodies”, that emphasizes improvisation and creativity, guile and grace. In this class conditioning drills, movements, and movement flows of capoeira will be the focus, and the class will generally conclude with a roda, the circle in which capoeira is “played” and comes alive. All levels welcome!

Bios : Deollo Johnson - Deollo has been teaching capoeira for over 25 years. He has taught capoeira nationally as an adjunct faculty member at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as at Arizona State University, the American Dance Festival, at festivals, and many other locations, and internationally at Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and in Hayti. Fred Simpson - Drummer, teacher, and drum maker Fred Simpson was drumming his mother’s pots and pans at one-and-a-half years of age. He started drumming professionally at UC-Santa Cruz and in the decades since then has performed, taught, and lectured in New York City, at the Kennedy Center, San Francisco Ethnic Dance, and many more venues.

Ring in Chinese New Year with Five Element Theory

Saturday, February 5 | 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm ~ Victoria Zito
$20-$40 sliding scale

This class will add technicolor to the honey of flowers and magic of wood New Mexico is laden with, in light of the Year of the Tiger. In the optimal year to put brilliant ideas into practice, let's harness transformational allies and practical tools from the natural world based on feeling, desire, tongue and pulse!

While some interpret Winter as impending doom, and others a valuable time for introspection, we can signal a soft surrender to shorter days and darker nights by building Kidney Qi and immunity alongside nourishing the water element.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the 8 Principles School: Yin/Yang, Excess/Deficient, Exterior / Interior, Hot/Cold and 5 Elements: Water/Wood/Fire/Earth/Metal. They are interconnected with each other and can be used as a lens onto deficiency caused by genetics/lifestyle or deficiency begun after an external excess has invaded.

Encourage balance in your body by learning which symptoms correlate with Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and or Metal, of which all apply to the Tiger type. You will walk away knowing which common weeds regulate blood, how to distinguish Yin and Yang deficiency, the 3 Treasures of the body, and how reading your tongue and pulse helps inform these!

Like Tarot, I-Ching, Yoga, or Research, Tongue and Pulse Diagnostics is a data point for informing the self.  Bring a notebook and a mug to this class!

Victoria’s Biography: Victoria is a clinically trained hypnotherapist and herbalist whose practice adds nuance to science and spirit’s attempt to convey the same message, in two different ways. Her close study of botany in Vermont precipitated her interest in locating plant’s inherent desire to benefit human health; with a heart and mind entrained to the woods already, she later studied western and Chinese herbalism in Appalachia and participated in pilot research projects with woodland botanicals that merged the two.

Later welcomed by the embrace of wild diversity of plants in the micro-climates of Florida, this began her home of the study of hypnotherapy. Taking note of the interplay between mind, emotion and spirit has inspired her to observe how the inner ecosystem correlates with outer ones. She was given insight into these changes by learning to assess Qi and Essence by taking the pulse.

Everyday she strives to learn more on the synchronicities and folkways of plants and bring them into the context of herbal medicine!

Soil Ecology with Wildcat

Saturday, November 20 | 1:30 pm - 6 pm with a break in-between
By donation $10-$20, no one turned away for lack of funds.

Session 1: 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm The first class is the story of soil - the players and the interactions which determine whether the soil is being built or destroyed. It is will give you the tools for increasing nutrient densities in foods, increasing water infiltration and retention, increasing the resilience of an area in the face of drought, disease, or insect attack, and will give you the tools to increase biomass and biodiversity in an area.

Session 2: 4 pm - 6 pm The second class will teach how-tos for specific human-land interactions, such as gardening, grazing, polyculture farming, wildland restoration, wetland restoration, etc., with an emphasis on the more than 10,000-year-old technology of biodiverse polyculture agroforestry called milpa, which could help turn the desertifying planet back into a food forest.

Wildcat has a long history of organic gardening and organic farming in greenhouses and outdoors. He has training in Elaine Ingham’s Life in the Soil classes on soil and compost ecologies and studies mycology and botany and all areas of regenerative ecology which he can get his hands on. He practices many forms of regenerative ecology, restoring biomass and biodiversity to areas in a variety of ways. He brings these schools of thought and his experience together into a single coherent understanding of the ways in which complex ecological systems function and teaches people what we can all do to sequester carbon and to restore the health of the ecosystems we are a part of in ways that make biology and ecology interesting and accessible to everyone, and which empower everyone to help mitigate climate change and this extinction event we’re experiencing.
